{"id":7329075,"date":"2017-07-19T13:01:05","date_gmt":"2017-07-19T19:01:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/hunch.net\/?p=7329075"},"modified":"2017-07-19T13:01:05","modified_gmt":"2017-07-19T19:01:05","slug":"icml-is-changing-its-constitution","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hunch.net\/?p=7329075","title":{"rendered":"ICML is changing its constitution"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/people.cs.umass.edu\/~mccallum\/\">Andrew McCallum<\/a> has been leading an initiative to update the bylaws of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.machinelearning.org\/\">IMLS<\/a>, the organization which runs <a href=\"http:\/\/icml.cc\">ICML<\/a>.  I expect most people aren&#8217;t interested in such details.  However, the bylaws change rarely and can have an impact over a long period of time so they do have some real importance.  I&#8217;d like to hear comment from anyone with a particular interest before this year&#8217;s ICML.  <\/p>\n<p>In my opinion, the most important aspect of the bylaws is the at-large election of members of the board which is preserved.  Most of the changes between the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.machinelearning.org\/statutes.html\">old<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/hunch.net\/images\/IMLS_Proposed_Bylaws.pdf\">new<\/a> versions are aimed at better defining roles, committees, etc&#8230; to leave IMLS\/ICML better organized.  <\/p>\n<p>Anyways, please comment if you have a concern or thoughts. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Andrew McCallum has been leading an initiative to update the bylaws of IMLS, the organization which runs ICML.
