{"id":100,"date":"2005-07-13T09:53:01","date_gmt":"2005-07-13T15:53:01","guid":{"rendered":"\/?p=100"},"modified":"2005-07-13T09:53:10","modified_gmt":"2005-07-13T15:53:10","slug":"text-entailment-at-aaai","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hunch.net\/?p=100","title":{"rendered":"Text Entailment at AAAI"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.stanford.edu\/~rajatr\/\">Rajat Raina<\/a> presented a paper on the technique they used for the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pascal-network.org\/\">PASCAL<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pascal-network.org\/Challenges\/RTE\/\">Recognizing Textual Entailment<\/a> challenge.  <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Text entailment&#8221; is the problem of deciding if one sentence implies another.  For example the previous sentence entails: <\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Text entailment is a decision problem.<\/li>\n<li>One sentence can imply another.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>The challenge was of the form: given an original sentence and another sentence predict whether there was an entailment.  All current techniques for predicting correctness of an entailment are at the &#8220;flail&#8221; stage&#8212;accuracies of around 58% where humans could achieve near 100% accuracy, so there is much room to improve.
